Welcome

Hello and thanks for stopping by. I’m 29 and will tell you that I’m the oldest 29-year-old you’ll ever meet. I’ve been 29 for nearly 17 years now, but you won’t mind if I don’t actually admit my age?

I’m a wife, mother, Latter-day Saint, and author. I love to hike, bike, and most of all–write. I write fiction, mostly for children and YA, in the fantasy and adventure genres (though I like to dabble in sci.fi.). I’m also a storyteller and have performed across 4 states. My favorite authors are J.R.R. Tolkien (Lord of the Rings trilogy) Lloyd Alexander (The Arkadians), Silvana De Mari (The Last Dragon), Cornellia Funke (Ink Heart) and Brock Cole (King at the Door and Buttons).

I’m busy marketing my book “Quest for Eloshidii” and ramping up to promote my newly completed 2-part novel “The Crying Chandelier,” but will check back every few days. I would love to hear from you!

I just built my website (conniejmartin.com). I’d love your comments.

Hello world!

I’m developing a presentation on creative writing for teens with illusions, original music and map, slides, and a brain. I’m really excited to share it, but I’ve caught a couple of comments that “teens don’t care, don’t waste your time.” Is that true? The local high school had to increase its number of creative writing classes and I’ve seen a list of teen writing and critique groups on-line (www.writing-world.com). Do teens generally not care about anything but their social life and “freedom”? Social life vs. goals/talents? Where do you guys stand?
